This requires some back story......

You've all seen the Veggie Tales movie Jonah, right? So you know the song "Jonah was a prophet......" Okay, keep that firmly places in mind.

We have six chairs at our kitchen table, despite the fact that we typically only have 5 people sitting down for dinner. Jonathan likes to point out each chair and who it belongs to. When he would get to the sixth chair, he would ask me who it was for. In good Passover style, we told him it was for Elijah. Which led into a discussion of who Elijah was. (Rebecca informed us that he was the man who had a beard like Daddy and lived on an island where birds fed him. Note to self: get her more children's bibles!) When we told them that Elijah was a prophet, Jonathan got quite indignant.

"No! Jonah was a prophet!"

So that brought up the discussion that there are many prophets who brought the people messages from the Lord. The kids had fun singing "Elijah was a prophet (ooh ooh) and he always always got it (totally true) Elijah was a prophet (ooh ooh) who got all of God's point"

Onto the real point of this particular entry:

Rebecca was doing her religion work in school and it was talking about waiting for the Messiah after the Fall and expulsion from Eden. This lesson talked focused on Noah and Abraham as people who loved God and tried to obey Him while they waited for the coming of the Savior.

On the worksheet for this lesson, the first question was "Re-read this section in your book. Who were two people who loved God and tried to obey Him while they waited for the coming of the Savior?" To which my little exegete replies,

"Oh, that's simple. Obediah and Malachi."

Yes of course. Simple.

Okay, so I know that I brag too much about Rebecca and that an awful lot of people think that I exaggerate her abilities........... We started school with her this year. An hour of calendar, practicing letters, reading a little bit about science or history, and then letting her read to me. We were running late on Thursday, so I was still praying when 9:00 came and Rebecca wanted to start school. I offered that she could sit with me while I said the Divine Office. Coffee Talk. Discuss.

While we were driving yesterday, Rebecca interrupted Steven and I and asked "Excuse me. May I please have permission to talk out loud?" (Let me note that this is not something that she regularly asks or that either of us has ever said. No clue where she got that idea. So we happily gave her permission.) "I would like to talk to you about colors" As this is the first line of conversation when she wants a "talk-over" and it begins to get stale, we declined the opportunity. "How about shapes?"
