March 14 Under the Sea

The next day was spent at Tokyo Disney Sea 



It's decidedly less ride-intensive than the other Park, but, rather, it is a feast for the eyes.  

In fact, I was so busy gazing, I took very few photos.  

The entry plaza is the globe 



Atlas, not shrugging


Each "land" is devoted to a different section of waters around the world - 
the Mediterranean, 



the Arabian Coast, 

(with Mystery Island in the background)

the Amazon, 
 


New England Americana, 



and Under the Sea.  
(No photos.  We were too busy gawking - it was jaw-droppingly gorgeous.) 


Lastly, Steampunk Land, 
otherwise known as Mystery Island 



It is all one giant steampunk extravaganza and includes rides based on Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and Journey to the Center of the Earth. 


In the Mediterranean region
you can buy your pound of fudge.




In the Amazonian Jungle, they have the house from Up! 
The whole Park is very crowded, so trying to get a photo was difficult.




Eventually Rebecca stood in the center of the path, blocking the way.  I guess she's noticeable.



It's interesting to us seeing what is super popular in Tokyo Disneyland vs CA Disneyland.  The princess craze isn't nearly as present.  But the Aristocats are huge.



The highlight of the night - the Mysterious Island volcano erupts.



Heading home. 






Final step count - 11.1 miles  

 Some might say "That's so far!"  As the kids said, "Pshaw. We didn't even beat San Francisco!" (12 miles) (Our best day was in Washington, DC.  That was 15 miles.)

Okay, so I know that I brag too much about Rebecca and that an awful lot of people think that I exaggerate her abilities........... We started school with her this year. An hour of calendar, practicing letters, reading a little bit about science or history, and then letting her read to me. We were running late on Thursday, so I was still praying when 9:00 came and Rebecca wanted to start school. I offered that she could sit with me while I said the Divine Office. She sat with me and did all the repetitive parts. But I decided to let her read one simple antiphon by herself (the title of this entry). She happily complied.......... and kept going. Coffee Talk. Discuss.

While we were driving yesterday, Rebecca interrupted Steven and I and asked "Excuse me. May I please have permission to talk out loud?" (Let me note that this is not something that she regularly asks or that either of us has ever said. No clue where she got that idea. So we happily gave her permission.) "I would like to talk to you about colors" As this is the first line of conversation when she wants a "talk-over" and it begins to get stale, we declined the opportunity. "How about shapes?"
